Abstract:
An efficient, one pot, three component solvent free synthesis of substituted imidazoles has been done with the help of reaction between substituted benzaldehyde, benzil and ammonium acetate in the presence of potassium dihydrogen phosphate by grinding method. The notable advantage of grinding method are the good yields, easy workup, short time reaction and environmentally benign as compared to conventional method. The synthesized compounds have been screened for their antifungal activity against Asperillus niger and Rhizoctonia solani. These synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1HNMR and melting point.
