Abstract:
The components of n-hexane extracts of two
Eucalyptus species (
E.camaldulensis and
E. microtheca) were investigated by GC/MS analysis. The plants were obtained from cultivated trees in Shambat, Khartoum North, Central Sudan. The principal components in
E. camaldulensis were 9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid, methyl ester (13.71%) was the major component identified followed by squalene (12.96%), hexadecanoic acid, methyl ester (8.91%) and beta-sitosterol (5.82%). The major compounds in
E. microtheca were found to be Gamma-sitosterol was the major component (11.97%) followed by 1H-cycloprop[e]azulene,decahydro-1,1,7- (10.51%), 1-heptacosanol (8.75%) and squalene (7.07%).
