Abstract: In the present study, extracts prepared from the leaves of Pinus roxburghii Sarg. (Pinaceae) commonly known as “Chir pine”, were evaluated for extraction and isolation of phytochemicals. P. roxburghii is traditionally used as a folk medicine as well as its other activities have been previously reported. The 50% ethanolic and aqueous extracts were tested for their phytochemicals screening and isolation of phytochemicals by column chromatography. The structure of isolated compounds was confirmed by spectral studies such as IR, NMR and MS spectroscopy and HPLC. The extracts showed the presences of secondary metabolites which are responsible for the therapeutic effects.
