Abstract:
Different groundnut varieties viz., GG-2, GG-5, GG-7, GG-20 and J-11 were stored for different period (0, 90, and 150 days after inoculation) to observe the effect on oil, protein and carbohydrate content and aflatoxin content after storage. With increase in storage period of groundnut; there was a greater reduction in the oil, protein, and carbohydrate content; however aflatoxin content increased. After 90 days of storage, minimum reduction of oil was recorded in the variety J-11 (4.94%); the minimum reduction of protein was recorded in the variety J-11 (2.92%) and the minimum reduction of carbohydrate was recorded in the variety GG-2 (9.78%) over periodical control. After 150 days of storage, minimum reduction of oil was recorded in the variety J-11 (13.05%); the minimum reduction of protein was recorded in the variety J-11 (9.86%) and the minimum reduction of carbohydrate was recorded in the variety GG-2 (12.82%) over periodical control. Increase in aflatoxin content was noticed over periodical control after storage. After 90 and 150 days of storage, maximum aflatoxin content increase was recorded with the variety GG-20 i.e. 6953.14 ppb and 10911.31 ppb respectively, whereas minimum increase was noticed in the variety J-11 i.e. 879.08 ppb and 1488.22 ppb, respectively.
