Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted in Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, College of Agriculture, BAU, Ranchi during kharif season 2012 and 13 to study the movement and availability of Zn in soil at different growth stage of rice. The treatments consisted of control (T0), 5 kg Zn ha-1(T1), 10 kg Zn ha-1 (T2) and 5 kg Zn ha-1 + 2 foliar sprays (T3). The basal dose of NPK at the rate of 80:40:30 kg ha-1 respectively, was applied to all treatments. The treatments were arranged in randomized complete block design with three replications. The results of this study showed that each incremental levels of Zn application contributed towards higher Soil Zn content. The maximum contribution of soil Zn built up was achieved at soil+ foliar application level. After flooding, rice fields undergo different physical, chemical and biochemical changes which affect the availability of Zn to crop.
