Screening of some turmeric genotype against shoot borer, Conogethes punctiferalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae)

Abstract:
Turmeric shoot borer, Conogethes punctiferalis is one of the notorious insect pests which cause severe damage at different stages of the turmeric crop resulting yield reduction. The present investigation were carried out to screen out some promising turmeric genotype against shoot borer, Conogethes punctiferalis,at the Main Experimental Station of Vegetable Science of Narendra Deva university of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabadduring Kharif, 2013-2014. Out of twenty genotypes on turmeric screening against the shoot borer none was found resistant. Eleven genotype were rated as moderately resistant found, three as moderately susceptible, five as susceptible and one only one highly susceptible against the shoot borer.
