Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted at experimental farm of TCA; Dholi, Muzaffarpur (Dr. RPCAU, Pusa, Bihar) during 2016-17 with aims to determine the response of Zinc and Boron application on yield, yield parameters and storage quality of garlic (Allium sativum L.) var. G-282. The experiment was laid out in RBD with four replications in rabi season with six treatments. Observations were recorded on all the five plants maintained carefully in each plot for eight quantitative and qualitative characters viz., TBY=total bulb yield (q/ha), field sprouting (%), MBY=marketable bulb yield (q/ha), B:C ratio, TSL-total storage losses (%), dry matter yield of leaves (kg/ha), dry matter yield of bulbs (kg/ha), total dry matter yield (kg/ha), nutrient concentration in leaves and bulbs (%) and nutrients uptake (kg/ha) by garlic. Maximum and significant marketable bulb yield (61.07 q/ha) and (60.27 q/ha) were recorded by T5-Foliar application of micronutrient mixture (Fe- 2.5%, B-0.50%, Zn-3.0%, Cu-1.0%, Mn- 1.0%) @ 0.5% 45 and 60 DAP and T3- Soil application of Borax @ 10.0 kg/ha, respectively. Significantly maximum total bulb yield (70.08 q/ha) and (66.31 q/ha) were found by T5-Foliar application of micronutrient mixture (Fe- 2.5%, B-0.50%, Zn-3.0%, Cu-1.0%, Mn- 1.0%) @ 0.5% 45 and 60 DAP followed by T3- Soil application of Borax @ 10.0 kg/ha, respectively, whereas, T6-Control (without micro-nutrients) given minimum value for total yield (49.98 q/ha). Among the all treatments, T5-Foliar application of micronutrient mixture (Fe- 2.5%, B- 0.50%, Zn-3.0%, Cu-1.0%, Mn-1.0%) @ 0.5% 45 and 60 DAP was observed as a beneficial treatment due to maximum cost benefit ratio (2.37:1). it may concluded that among six treatments, T5-Foliar application of micronutrient mixture (Fe- 2.5%, B- 0.50%, Zn-3.0%, Cu-1.0%, Mn- 1.0%) @ 0.5% 45 and 60 DAP was found best from rest treatment. Therefore, this treatment may be use for commercial cultivation of garlic
